Spicy Mustard Greens Stir-Fry

Yield

Yield: 4 Servings

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bunch mustard greens, stems removed and leaves chopped
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering, about 1 minute.
  2. Add 2 cloves minced garlic to the skillet, stirring constantly for 30 seconds until fragrant but not browned.
  3. Toss in 1 bunch chopped mustard greens, stirring to coat them in the oil and garlic. Tip: Work in batches if your skillet is small to avoid steaming the greens.
  4. Sprinkle ½ tsp red pepper flakes over the greens for that spicy kick. Stir well to distribute the heat evenly.
  5. Drizzle 1 tbsp soy sauce and 1 tsp sesame oil over the greens, then stir-fry for another 2 minutes until the greens are wilted but still bright green. Tip: Keep the heat high to ensure a quick cook, preserving the greens’ crunch.
  6. Remove from heat and serve immediately.

Notes

Notes from original recipe post: Bold and peppery, this stir-fry brings a delightful crunch and a heat that lingers just enough. Try it alongside grilled chicken or tofu for a complete meal that’s as nutritious as it is delicious. For an extra layer of flavor, garnish with toasted sesame seeds before serving.
